ย Natural Remedies For Blackheads

Blackheads can be really annoying and embarrassing and everyone wants to get rid of this nuisance either with the help of natural remedies or through strips or some extraction method (which can have adverse effect if not done correctly). I had written about blackhead removal remedies sometime back, you can use fresh Garlic(I know it stinks but if you can bear the smell you don’t have to worry about blackheads), Lemon(some people are allergic to citrus fruits so its not a good option for them), Fenugreek are some of the safest natural remedies for blackheads.

Follow these 2 simple steps and say goodbye to Blackheads.

Soften those Blackheads

Before trying out any recipe, softening these blackheads will make the process super easy and very effective. When they are soft they tend to come off easily.

Take 16oz (400ml) water and boil it , add some fresh or dried basil leaves. Once it is boiled add 2-3 drops Lavender oil(you can use any essential oil that helps you with acne some examples are tea tree, rosewood, sandalwood). Drape a towel around your head and take a steam for a few minutes so that the pores open up. People with sensitive skin, be extra careful not to burn your face.

Now your blackheads are ready to be removed.

Mix one tbsp. Baking Soda with enough water to make a paste. Apply it to the blackheads and keep it on for about a minute or so and gently scrub. Rinse it off with warm water and finish this process by splashing some cold water so that the pores are closed.

By now, your blackheads would have gone. This simple process also makes your skin soft and smooth. Some people are allergic to baking soda(specially people with sensitive skin) so your skin might become red for a few minutes.

    Hi Leon,

I tried this last night. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a facial, and my skin needed this! It was easy. The steam smelled lovely. I just had one question: should I make the paste ahead so that I can apply it directly after steam or is it good for my face to have the break between steam and baking soda?

Also, you say to do this regularly, but not too often? Once a week? Twice a month? What would you suggest?

  8. 8

    Hey Madelyn,
Glad to hear that:) You can steam your face once or twice a month but you can use those ingredients on a regular basis. You can use the baking soda paste immediately after you steam your face.

Should i moisturize my face after?

  13. 13

this really didnt work.. i did the steam thing with 2 basil leaves and 4 drops of lavender essential oil, and immediatley after that, i did the baking soda paste, rinsed with warm water, then did a couple final splashes of cold water. it seemed like i did everything right, it made my sking soft, but it didnt get rid of the blackheads on my nose!! ๐Ÿ™

  14. 14

Yes Jacqueline, you should moisturize your face after exfoliating.

Alex, Sad to hear that. I am not sure what went wrong but this recipe does work. Did you keep it on for at least one minute before exfoliating?

  15. 15

I’m going to try this, If it works I’ll be so happy

  16. 16

I’m going to try this recipie but I’m scared, if it goes wrong would it damage my skin? Since we put on baking soda

  17. 17

No Mazola, it won’t damage your skin. But if you have very sensitive skin it might make your skin red which is temporary.

I don’t understand how you use the first three ingredients mentioned: garlic, lemon and fenugreek. I undertand the steam and baking soda. can you clarify?

  21. 21

Hi Nadine, You can crush some garlic and rub it on blackheads, you can soak some fenugreek seeds overnight , grind it and apply it on blackheads and put some lemon juice with the help of a cotton ball on blackheads.

  22. 22

Thank you so much for the recipe. I’ve tried it and it works exactly as advertised. Thank you!

  23. 23

This made my skin feel soooo very soft! Unfortunately, it didn’t remove any blackheads, though. My nose, upper lip and chin are full of blackheads and I’ve never found anything that works. They really are more like plugs, I can’t even squeeze them out. ๐Ÿ™
